About this course
A 3-month course, on campus or online, for the Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT), conducted by the HEC for law graduates who want to be enrolled as advocates. The course reviews the core law subjects of the LL.B in the MCQ format.
Each unit ends with a topic test, and the course finishes with timed full-length mock tests. Check the HEC for the current test date and passing marks.
What you'll achieve
- Revise all six Law-GAT areas in the HEC weightage
- Recall the key articles, sections, cases and legal maxims tested in MCQs
- Work through 100 MCQs in the time allowed
- Pass the 50% mark with a safety margin in timed mock tests
Requirements
LL.B graduates and final-year LL.B students.
- Week1
Orientation and diagnostic test: Law-GAT pattern, weightage and a study plan; first mock test
- Week2
Constitution I: salient features, fundamental rights (Articles 8–28) and principles of policy
- Week3
Constitution II: Parliament, Federation and Provinces, superior judiciary (Articles 184(3), 185, 199), emergency provisions and amendments
- Week4
Jurisprudence I: sources of law, schools of jurisprudence, legal rights and duties
- Week5
Jurisprudence II: possession, ownership, legal persons and liability; Islamic jurisprudence (sources and schools)
- Week6
Civil Law I: Code of Civil Procedure — jurisdiction, res judicata, suits, pleadings, injunctions and appeals
- Week7
Civil Law II: Contract Act, Specific Relief Act, Limitation Act and Transfer of Property Act; mid-course mock test
- Week8
Criminal Law I: Pakistan Penal Code — general exceptions, offences against the human body, Qisas and Diyat, offences against property
- Week9
Criminal Law II: Code of Criminal Procedure — FIR, investigation, bail, trial and appeals
- Week10
Law of Evidence: Qanun-e-Shahadat Order, 1984 — relevancy, admissions, confessions, burden of proof and witnesses
- Week11
English Legal Language: legal maxims and terms, comprehension of legal texts and grammar
- Week12
Final revision: guess papers and two full-length timed mock Law-GATs with review
