About this course
A 3-month course, on campus or online, for the HEC Law Admission Test (LAT), which every candidate must pass for admission to the LL.B in Pakistan. The full syllabus is covered: there is no subject-by-subject fee.
Classes cover the essay and personal statement as well as the objective sections, with weekly tests and full-length mock LATs. The HEC sets the test format and passing marks each year; check the HEC website for the current schedule.
What you'll achieve
- Know the LAT pattern and plan your time for both parts
- Answer English, GK, Pakistan Studies, Islamic Studies, Urdu and Mathematics MCQs with speed and accuracy
- Write a well-structured essay and a convincing personal statement within 200 words
- Pass the 50% mark with a safety margin in timed mock tests
Requirements
Intermediate (HSSC/F.A./F.Sc.) or equivalent, completed or appearing, meeting the HEC/university marks requirement for LL.B admission.
- Week1
Orientation and diagnostic test: the LAT pattern, marking and a time plan for both parts; first mock LAT
- Week2
English I: parts of speech, tenses, subject–verb agreement and sentence correction
- Week3
English II: vocabulary (synonyms, antonyms, analogies), idioms and reading comprehension
- Week4
General Knowledge I: world geography, international organisations, important dates and firsts
- Week5
General Knowledge II and Current Affairs: Pakistan and world events of the last 12 months, legal and constitutional news
- Week6
Pakistan Studies: the Pakistan Movement, constitutional history (1947–1973), geography and economy
- Week7
Islamic Studies: Quran and Sunnah, pillars of Islam, Seerah and basic Islamic concepts (Ethics for non-Muslim candidates); mid-course mock LAT
- Week8
Urdu: grammar (qawaid), idioms (muhawarat), correct usage and comprehension
- Week9
Mathematics: percentages, ratios, averages, basic algebra and word problems
- Week10
Essay writing: choosing a side, outlining and arguing in 200 words; essays checked every week (English or Urdu)
- Week11
Personal statement: why you want to study law, presenting yourself in 200 words; drafts reviewed one-to-one
- Week12
Final revision: guess papers and two full-length timed mock LATs with review
